We really can't blame kids for believing these protein myths... they're truly so eager to learn how to maximize their energy, strength, and speed that they want to believe the information is accurate.
Unfortunately- they're inundated with information that's either
A. trying to sell them something ineffective
B. inaccurate for growing bodies (yes, that includes our 19-20 year old athletes)
C. just plain wrong.
What's really cool though?
Once they learn accurate information
energy increases
recovery improves
strength increases
muscle soreness decreases
risk of injury decreases
So which three protein myths do athletes around the country still believe... that Rock Performance athletes already know aren't benefitting their game?
MYTH: They need BCAA's and creatine to increase muscle mass, "bulk up," and gain strength.
FACT: The supplement industry is widely inaccurate, ineffective, and can be high risk for growing athletes.
------
MYTH: They need high protein meals before & between games.
FACT: Large amounts of protein less than two hours prior to practice/games can negatively impact energy, performance, and recovery.
------
MYTH: They need protein immediately post-workout.
FACT: One of the biggest marketing gimmicks. 100% inaccurate and negatively impacts recovery.
------
